Arundo Clarinet Quartet

A programme spanning four centuries to include an Arundo commission, ‘South to the Sun’ as well as transcriptions of
Albinoni: Sonata in E major
Mozart: Quartet K370 and
Dvorak: Serenade.
The Arundo Clarinet Quartet, formed in 1986, still boasts its original personnel. This long association reflects a determination to present ensemble performance of the highest standard. The quartet aims to perform a well-balanced concert programme including transcriptions of baroque and classical favourites in order to offer a spectrum of musical styles.
The quartet’s friendly and informative approach is a good match with the ‘feel’ of the Rook Lane Chapel Coffee Concerts which are characterised by informality and accessibility. A number of British composers, recognising the quality of Arundo’s playing, have written pieces for them. ‘South to the Sun’, by Gordon Lewin, which will be performed at Rook Lane Chapel, was written for their 10th Anniversary.

About the Coffee Concert Series
Rook Lane Chapel’s Sunday Morning Coffee Concerts have become an established part of the arts calendar in the Somerset market town of Frome. At a time of the year when there tends to be a musical famine, these concerts are designed to plug the gap and lift the winter blues.
Doors open at 10.30 am when freshly brewed Fairtrade coffee is served and Sunday papers are available. Concerts begin at 11.30 am and last approximately one hour, without interval.
These concerts are entirely funded from subscriptions. There is no grant aid or sponsorship safety net, yet we present artists of the highest calibre. This is made possible only by your support.
A future series of tea time concerts will take place in April.

10.30am doors open for coffee and conversation; 11.30am concert begins (approx duration 1 hour).
