At a time when painting is often overlooked in the face of new media, seven exemplary painters unite to celebrate the painted surface. When a group of contemporary, committed painters get together, the atmosphere of excitement and energy is palpable.

The seven members of ‘Altered Images’, all members of Wessex Contemporary Art, are united by their passion for the process of painting. They share a journey of colour and texture, while exploring with marks, line and form. When asked to describe their journey their language is shared too. Their approach is similar, based on intuition and enriched by risk. A risk worth taking as it uncovers surprises, with the synchronicity of the finished work.

These experienced artists welcome the chance to show their work together, celebrating personal struggles, yet highlighting the diversity revealed by the integrity of their paintings.
