Fragile Forests of the Tropics
20th – 27th September 2008
10am – 5pm Mon – Sat
Writhlington School orchid expedition photographs.
An exhibition of photographs from one of the most unusual after-school clubs in the country. Fragile Forests document Writhlington School’s orchid research and conservation expeditions to tropical forests, with a collection of stunning images from the cloud forests of Brazil and Costa Rica, the lowland forests of Guatemala and Belize, the monsoon forests of Laos and Sikkim, and the Fynbos of the Western Cape. Brought together for the first time, these photographs highlight the rich diversity of these wild places.
The work is presented in the context of both the threats these forests face and steps being taken to ensure their survival.
The exhibition closes with the Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset Orchid Society Show on Saturday 27th September with exhibitions of plants, plant sales and demonstrations.
