Lit Studio Artists
Saturday 14th February – Friday 13th March 2009
Mon - Sat 10.00am - 4.00pm
Works by artists based in the studios above Frome Museum.
Christopher Bucklow’s work has recently been included in exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and the permanent collections of both those institutions contain many examples of his work.
Mark Karasick’s seductively sensuous images are transparent and haunting, ‘You have the same feeling when you're nose-to-nose with these encaustic paintings that you get in looking at sky reflected in a pool of water on the street. It displays a disconcerting infinity of space.' Robert Enright Contemporary no70 Plug In I.C.A. Canada.
Celia Bennett’s creates haunting portraits: “changelings; placed outside where their faces can literally reflect sky and earth like earthly angels - a valiant group of messenger-soldiers from another time or spiritual place”, and Michael Bennett evokes a meditative, abstract quality through repeated observation of emblematic and solitary trees in his Sanctuary Series.
