Past Events

An exhibition of works created by pupils from Christchurch and Vallis First Schools, and Bishop Henderson Primary School in response to visits earlier in the year to Rook Lane Arts and the Merlin Theatre.

The project is part of the Princes Foundation for Children and the Arts programme ‘Start’. This aims to give children the chance to visit their local cultural venues and benefit from a structured programme of quality arts experiences. The resulting exhibition has been created by the schools in response to their visits, through working with artist Emma Finch. The project also includes Continuing Professional Development sessions for teachers so they can support Emma’s work and benefit from the project themselves.

The Merlin Theatre has been running Arts and Kids since 2006 and is pleased to have Rook Lane involved as a partner for 08-09. The project is part of the Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts Start programme which provides funding and support to arts venues in enable them to create partnerships with schools in their area. Arts and Kids in 08-09 is also part funded by the Ernest Cook Trust.
