Will Collier Septet
Friday 13th November 2009
Doors open 7.30pm performance 8.00pm
We can’t wait to fill Rook Lane Chapel with the sound of this dynamic septet led by Will on double bass and including drums, trumpet, tenor and alto sax, trombone and piano.
The group are currently celebrating their debut record “Everybody Loves the Will Collier Septet”, cited as “beautiful work” by jazz legend Kenny Wheeler, and a “forward looking vision of music” by British composer Colin Towns.
They have a fast growing reputation for music likened to Bill Frisell, Dave Holland, the Bad Plus and Gil Evans, with cinematic influences and the occasional African tinge.
“Refreshing, yet challenging to the ear…. Collier proves that writing challenging music doesn’t mean abandoning pure, heartfelt melody.” Jazzwise
