Frome Schools Art Exhibition

Monday 15 February – Saturday 13 March 2010

Mon – Fri 10.00am – 2.00pm

Late press! Rook Lane Arts and Frome Community Learning Partnership have been busy scheming through the snow, to show selected artworks from the seventeen busy, creative schools which make up the Frome area network of schools .

The exhibition came about through discussions before Christmas between Rook Lane Chapel and Frome Community Learning Partnership about new ways of working together. “With space on the walls of Rook Lane Chapel in February / March the FCLP thought we would seize an opportunity,” says Phil Hill, Head of Oakfield School. “Normally the things children achieve in school are only seen ‘in house’, and by parents, staff and family. This will allow different schools to see each other’s achievements, and reach a wider community audience at the same time.“

“The exhibition gives the chance for local children to show their work in a professional exhibition open to a wider public”, says Rook Lane Arts Administrator Jo Plimmer, “and will also bring a great feeling of colour and energy to the Chapel alongside our Spring concert programme”.

The exhibition is open Mon-Fri 10.00am – 2.00pm

Studio prints have also sponsored 3 prizes of art materials vouchers which will be awarded to winners of 3 categories:

  • Young People’s Choice
  • Experts’ Choice
  • General Public’s Choice

Prizes will be awarded on Saturday 13 March - watch this space and school newsletters for further details.
