The varied surfaces of Jim Dales’ work create images, recognizable yet mysterious in their provenance. It is in this dislocation between recognition and mystery that myth and poetry have their energy. Jim’s process of making is one of continual re-working and re-thinking, creating and obliterating. The work that emerges has often a haunted and harrowed character that resonates with the darkness of our world.
