Romantic drama about a young couple have a love affair in the space of a weekend. He is a sea captain whose wife has left him, and she is a lonely waitress living with her brother and illegitimate daughter. The film opens as the lovers lie in bed telling each other about their lives and reflecting on the events that brought them there. A charmingly acted and compassionately realized film, this is the first in our springtime monthly Sunday night film season.
About Rook Lane film nights….
Rook Lane Film nights take place on the first Sunday of every month throughout the year (with breaks fir the summer and Christmas), with films starting at 7:30pm or later during the summer months. Alastair hand picks a diverse range of films from the BFI’s collection, seeking out hidden gems which turn out to be unexpectedly enjoyable.
