Shut in, in more than one sense, Badii is driving around the outskirts of Tehran on a mission the completion of which requires him to find help from someone else: this road movie features a journey, but the route is somewhat circular and unfulfilled and the end unconventional.    “A beautiful and emotionally complex meditation on life and death”, observing at close quarters the unusual determination of an enigmatic protagonist, the film won the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.
