Pete The Temp comes to The Rook Lane Chapel in Frome on 1st May to perform his much acclaimed show Romantics, Mystics and Revolutionaries.
Hear the story of two Bristol-based poets / revolutionaries who helped change the face of history. William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge have been brought back to life in this rapturous collision of ecstatic poetry and classical instruments. Learn about the Romantic poets’ relationship to psychedelics, anti-slavery and rebellion in this intriguing journey of lyricism and laughter. This is a one-of-a-kind act of enchantment and madness from a time of slavery and war.
BIOGS
Pete Bearder is an award-winning spoken word poet, author and comic whose work has been featured on BBC Radio 4, Newsnight and the World Service. He is a former Hammer & Tongue UK Poetry Slam champion.
Pete will be supported by poets Olly Davy, Aianna Rose and singer song writer Elona.
Olly Davy runs ‘ dirty laundry’ a popular bi-monthly, high-energy poetry and storytelling night based in Frome, Somerset.
Elona writes alternative folk songs accompanied by Celtic inspired, finger picking guitar. She is a multi-instrumentalist, layering vocal harmonies live with a harmonium, rhythm section and a loop pedal to create a more expansive soundscape. Two of her biggest influences are John Butler and John Martyn.
